I hope you have a safe and fun night! On Friday in class, we did some celebrating ourselves. It was Character Day, so we had an alien, Pikachu, and Belle join our class among many others. We also went to an assembly and saw which classes won the Golden Awards. I hope next month it'll be us again! Then, we came back to the classroom and did fun activities and ate some snacks. Thanks Mrs. Z for putting together an awesome party! We ran test flights for paper bats, made creative felt pencil covers, and a "Trick or treat, smell my feet" picture using glow in the dark paint and our feet as stamps. See some of the fun pictures below!
A bit of housekeeping: if you haven't already signed up for a conference, please use this link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090b49a9ab2cabfa7-parent to do so!
This past week we finished our globe project and they are hanging from the ceiling of the classroom! This activity helped up prepare for our quiz about the continents and oceans of the world that we took on Thursday.
In Math we have started Math Stations this week! This is a way for students to experience Math in different ways. We play applicable math games, work on fact fluency, solve word problems, and more! Each day each group goes to a different spot, and by the end of the week, we have done them all. We introduced stations with four easy rules: always be doing Math, ask 3 before me, clean up your station, and use inside voices. Then, we practiced them! Check out pictures of us working hard!
What a fun week it's been! We have been learning about multiplication and dipping our toes into division. We have also been working on writing our thoughts when reading. In addition, we finished our Best Part of Me projects!
What a great start to the year! I am so excited to have such an amazing class full of dedicated learners! We have worked a lot this week on procedures in the classroom and around the school. We want to make sure we are safe, respectful, and responsible in all areas of the school! We have also been getting to know each other! To help with this, we have been doing a writing project using the book The Best Part of Me. It is written by kids like us and talks about what they like best about themselves! (For example, you may like your feet because they let you run and play soccer!) We read this in class, and now are writing about what we think is the best part of US!
Welcome to third grade! I hope you had a great summer and are ready for a great year! I am from Richmond, VA and graduated from William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. For the last four years I have taught in Charlotte, NC. This will be my first year as a Wolverine and I could not be more excited! In my free time, I love to run, paint, and (of course) read! I also love to travel and have been able to visit such amazing places as Great Britain, Peru, Spain, and Costa Rica! My vision for this year is for our third grade is to become students who are game changers. A game changer is someone who makes good change in the world even if it is tough or if people do not believe he or she can! We can all be game changers and make the world a better place! |
